- Mac OS X 10.2+: a disk image that contains a point and click package installer
- RedHat 5/6/7/8, FreeBSD, Solaris, Mac OS X 10.1: an executable shell archive that unpacks into a set of installation files
- RedHat 8/9: a compressed tar image in .tar.gz form that contains the install files
- Sun Cobalt: a pkg package installer that installs through the Cobalt interface
