Urchin is a web analytics software designed to enable businesses to easily analyze the traffic to their website(s) and create detailed, insightful, and intuitive reports. Basically, Urchin is a powerful log-analysis program.

How Is Urchin 6 Different Than Urchin 5?
Urchin 6 goes beyond the simple charts of Urchin 5 to provide greater visualization of the data. Urchin 6 includes such features as funnel analysis, site overlay, geo-targeting, and much more!

The navigation of Urchin 6 has also been re-engineered to be more conducive to the business process of marketing optimization. Urchin 6 includes tools to help users become more proactive in their use of web analytics.

Hardware Recommendations
Urchin 6 will run on legacy hardware, but you will get significantly better performance with newer gear. The below specs are NOT minimum requirements -- these are merely recommendations based on our internal testing efforts:

- Processor: 2 GHz or better (64-bit processors are not supported natively, but work with 32-bit emulation)
- Memory: 2 GB or more
- Storage: Application files are ~620 MB, report files are ~40% of raw log file size (per profile)

Urchin 6 Pricing
Urchin 6 will be $2,995, and this price includes the full functionality of the software. That means you no longer need to worry about purchasing different modules. With Urchin 6, you can run e-commerce and campaign tracking functionality on a bunch of servers with no extra cost!

For owners of standard Urchin 5 licenses, Urchin Software is available for a discounted price. The amount paid for the Urchin 5 installation will be applied towards the cost of Urchin 6 Software. For example, if you purchased the base module of Urchin 5 for $895, then Urchin 6 Software would cost $2,100 ($2995 - $895). By the same token if you purchased the Urchin Profit Suite for $2,995 then Urchin 6 Software would be free!

Installer file info: The Urchin 6 installer will be one of several types depending on your operating system:

Windows: an InstallShield setup.exe style executable installer
Mac OS X 10.2+: a disk image that contains a point and click package installer
RedHat 5/6/7/8, FreeBSD, Solaris, Mac OS X 10.1: an executable shell archive that unpacks into a set of installation files
RedHat 8/9: a compressed tar image in .tar.gz form that contains the install files
Sun Cobalt: a pkg package installer that installs through the Cobalt interface
