Setting Achievable Ecommerce Marketing Goals

September 6, 2016

Setting Achievable Ecommerce Marketing GoalsOne of the most crucial components of any marketing strategy for growth and profit is setting an effective ROI goal. However, most companies do not give this goal the priority it deserves.

In most cases, companies take a cursory glance at metrics such as average product margin or even monthly ad spend and then base their goal(s) off of this. Not only is this a fool’s errand, but it could also be a recipe for disaster that leads your company off the edge of a financial cliff.

If all of your advertising programs are measured against these broad metrics, your company could be hemorrhaging money while everyone is giving high fives and pats on the back for a job well done.

August 1, 2016

3 Steps to Correct Digital Marketing BlundersHow do you keep your cool when things are going south? When you’re sick, it’s the symptoms you notice. The achy muscles, the runny nose, the tired eyes; not the cold itself. Treating symptoms, though, doesn’t solve the source of the problem. When you have a cold, the oft-cure is time.

When it comes to digital marketing ailments, the proper diagnosis of poor performance requires the same bit of patience. Remember: poor performance is a lagging indicator. You want to address the leading indicators that are the root of the problem and the performance improvement will eventually follow.

4 Tips for Making the Most Out of IRCE 2017 or Any ConferenceIt’s been a little over a month since one of the globe’s largest conferences for online retailers took place: IRCE. And while they boasted their largest attendance on record, had some of the greatest thought leaders in eCommerce speaking, and offered access to hundreds of potential new partners, there are still thousands of retailers who did not attend. But why?

At the outset, I want to establish that I typically attend conferences as an exhibitor. I don’t get to attend any sessions. My time is spent talking with companies and existing clients on the exhibition floor.

Tips to Maximize Amazon Prime Day's Impact on Your Business

Ready or not, here it comes! Amazon Prime Day will roll out round two tomorrow. If you thought last year’s event was just a waste of time and basically a garage sale for Amazon, you might want to reconsider your stance. That garage sale sold 34.4 million items and drew in almost 180 million visitors! That’s 398 products sold per second, in case you were curious.

Those kind of numbers are staggering and just go to show you how big of a market share Amazon controls. To put it in perspective, Prime Day was the fourth largest retail day of the entire year! It actually surpassed Black Friday in terms of orders processed for Amazon. Apparently inventing holidays really can work. Well, if you’re Amazon anyways, who has an economy larger than some countries.

Why A/B Testing Could Save Your Marketing Strategy

June 30, 2016

Why A/B Testing Could Save Your Marketing StrategyWhile many understand what A/B testing (split testing) is, many do not use this vital tool to its full potential. The beauty of these tests is that they can be used for almost anything. You can test something as simple as ad copy in a paid search campaign to something as complex as the entire content on a web page.

These tests have an enormous impact on your overall marketing efforts. They allow you to analyze what works and what doesn’t on a granular level. The results from just one of these tests could greatly increase your conversion rates, sign-ups, or other goals if you know what to look for.

For even more on A/B testing, join us and Blue Acorn for a live webinar on July 14th, hosted by Bronto Software.

Google AdWords Click to Text Campaigns Show Huge Potential

June 20, 2016

Google AdWords Click to Text Campaigns Show Huge PotentialAs we speak, Google AdWords is testing a new extension for their ads. This add-on allows users to send an SMS or text message directly to the company that is advertising. Similar to the extension that allows users to call the company via the ad, this update furthers the mobile-first mentality that Google has demonstrated over the last several months.

It’s also proof that most people want as little interaction as possible with people they don’t know. According to a ZipWhip blog, the first campaign to utilize this texting feature saw a 265% increase in click-through rate (CTR) over similar ads where a phone call was the option.

The Overwhelming Importance of Mobile Marketing

May 18, 2016

Mobile MarketingBack in 2007 when the first smartphones were being introduced, there were few people in the industry who truly understood just how much was about to change. If you had told someone that smartphones would surpass desktops for web browsing in just seven short years, you’d probably have been laughed out of the room.

But the joke is on them. By early 2014 mobile devices eclipsed desktop for internet browsing. Now, two years later, there looks to be no end in sight.

Currently, mobile internet users have topped 2 billion people. With a world population of roughly 7.5 billion, that means more than one quarter of the world’s population is accessing the internet with their phone.
